“While dash cams capture incidents and telematics track data, HMD shows moods and reactions like frustration or anger, giving a fuller picture to coach and support drivers. It helps us understand behaviour, not just data, and that makes all the difference.”

25 years ago, Willie Milne was a driver at the National Library of Scotland when the How’s My Driving? sticker first appeared on their vehicles. “I never saw it as Big Brother, it made me think differently about how I drive. HMD gives a human perspective that cameras and telematics can’t,” says Willie, now Team Leader for Logistics and Vehicles. Willie uses the digital dashboard insights to guide and protect his team, including driver Ciaran Arthurs, blending technology with human understanding to promote safer journeys.

“While dash cams capture incidents and telematics track data, HMD shows moods and reactions like frustration or anger, giving a fuller picture to coach and support drivers. It helps us understand behaviour, not just data, and that makes all the difference.” To celebrate their incredible 25-year membership, our founder Ross presented the Library with an Award for Dedication to Driver Safety.

Here’s to a quarter-century of careful, thoughtful driving, quietly leading by example on Scotland’s roads.
