How’s My Driving? - Safe Driving Blog Tips

Can you rise to the challenge and ‘PLAY TEN’ with How’s My Driving?

The team at How’s My Driving? are looking forward to the upcoming RWM exhibition which is being held at the NEC Birmingham, on September 11 and 12. We will be joining around 14,000 environmental professionals at this recycling and waste management event and industry speakers from Clean Up Britain, Costa Coffee, NASA and Viridor.

How’s My Driving? will be attending this year with our supported partner, 5asideCHESS. As a social enterprise company, How’s My Driving? reinvests profit from our road safety sticker service directly back into projects which further promote road safety.  Our team have been working with 5asideCHESS to promote and support their innovative initiative, which aims to improve the mental health of haulage drivers.

5asideCHESS is a simple yet effective idea which involves using a short-form game of chess to help beat social isolation and loneliness. As constantly reported in our media, social isolation is a growing problem with more and more people of all ages feeling lonely and disconnected. This social isolation is particularly prevalent in industries where lone working is widespread. Haulage drivers, who may indeed be employed in the waste industry are at the top of this list. 5asideCHESS gives drivers the ideal ‘talking tool’ as they can use a quick game of chess to meet new people or re-engage with others.

Our challenge to you at the RWM show is to ‘PLAY TEN’. Over the two days of the show, we challenge you to play ten games of 5asideCHESS with other exhibitors and attendees.  This shortened form can be played in less than three minutes, so that’s just thirty minutes over the two days!

For those who do, you will have the opportunity to win five free sets of the unique 5asideCHESS game for you to distribute to your teams and help get your team talking!

You can pick up your chessboard on either day at Stand X31 and return it to us at the end of the event.
